Santa Rosa, CA –Redwood Credit Union (RCU) will be celebrating National Credit Union Youth Week, April 18 through 24, 2010, with the theme “Get in the Savings Game,” to encourage kids and teens to learn the value of saving money. Planned festivities include free educational seminars for children, teens and parents, plus contests, informative handouts, giveaways and more.
“National Credit Union Youth Week provides us a great opportunity to educate young people about financial matters in a fun and exciting way. Engaging them with fun opportunities like Credit Union Youth Week is the first step in helping them develop responsible money habits at a early age, which will benefit them for a lifetime,” said Lee Alderman, Assistant Vice President of Educational Development at RCU. “Redwood Credit Union is committed to financial literacy for youths and adults, as well, to encourage conscientious money management skills that allow our Members and communities to pursue and achieve their financial goals and dreams,” Alderman added.
Please see the attached seminar list for details on RCU’s Youth Week free financial seminars for families, children and teens. In addition, the Credit Union will be hosting a coloring contest for kids under 12, and a $100 Savings Challenge Sweepstakes for any youths who make a deposit into their RCU savings account during Youth Week.
RCU’s Youth Accounts program is divided into two groups: Jr. Rangers, for children through age 12, and Jr. Partners for teens, 13-17. Both age groups receive dividends on the funds they save, a free gift when opening an RCU savings account, quarterly educational and fun newsletters, online account access, and access to a special website with educational games and articles.
